In the current economic climate businesses big and small are looking for ways to not only save money but also help the environment. One way this can be achieved is through installing the best type of commercial air conditioning system that they can. Such a system will ensure that the working environment is perfect for their employees which will help to keep productivity levels at optimum levels, and this in turn could help to ensure that their profit margins remain good.

It isn’t that difficult today for a business to find the right commercial air conditioning system that will not only help to create the right working environment but also will help to save on their bills each year. In fact there are several different systems to select from and one of these is the evaporative air cooler system.

So what is it about this kind of system that would make it a suitable option for a business to have installed? Below we look at a number of the benefits to be had from getting this type of commercial air conditioning system installed.

1. This particular air conditioning system needs no new ductwork to be erected if there is some already in position as it can be run through it. Over time the cost savings that a business makes from installing such a commercial air conditioning system can be as much as 75% over the course of a year.

2. Unlike many other commercial air conditioning systems available today this one does not need Freon gas to help cool down the water in them. So of course no Freon means no fumes being released into the atmosphere which could be harmful to the environment.

3. This is a system that is especially suited for use in industries where food production takes place. Not only do such systems improve the quality of the air for the employees who work in such businesses, but also helps to reduce the levels of bacterium in the air as well.

4. These particular systems can with a large number of water pads inside them compared to other air conditioning systems used in commercial premises and the cooled air can be distributed not only evenly but more quickly. Plus they also allow the speed at which the air can be distributed varied.

As you do some more research into these types of commercial air conditioning systems you will soon discover that each one comes with a number of different features and functions. Some will contain more water pads than others and some will have varying speeds at which the cool air can be distributed. Plus the size of the tank where the water is kept to cool the air will differ greatly.

When considering purchasing such a system for a business one needs to look carefully at the materials used to construct the units. Remember these are going to be in contact with water constantly and if not are going to rust or corrode easily if the wrong materials are used. However, there are plenty of companies who produce such commercial air conditioning systems and ensure that they use the right kinds of materials to prevent such problems from occurring.

For improved office working conditions for employees why not choose from a range of air conditioning units from climate control specialists Dry it Out Ltd. With a wide choice in portable air conditioning units and easy to install air conditioners

This 5,000 BTU Frigidaire window air conditioner features 2-way air direction control, allowing you to adjust airflow to best suit your needs. Once you get your new Frigidaire window air conditioner home, it will be so easy to install, thanks to a pleated window mounting kit. For great deals on a variety of Air Conditioners to fit your home and lifestyle, shop P.C. Richard & Son, the Appliance, Electronics, and Computer Giant!

Does it not feel nice to return home and relax in the comfort of a cool and dehumidified environment? It has been a long time since you have faced the horrors of returning home after a hard day at office and then swelter it out in the heat and humidity of a typical summer evening. Those were the days you shudder to remember and just cannot imagine how you had spent them. Ever since you had asked your friend about the best and cheapest air conditioning unit and had purchased the same, life has changed.

You had been wise enough to select a good make of air conditioner and for quite some time it had provided you with good and efficient service, but for the past few days you have observed that the unit is not chilling the room as much as it used to. All things, both electronic and mechanical are bound to fail at one time or the other and it seems that such time has also arrived for your loyal air conditioner. You have no blame against it. After all, it has provided you with years of faithful service and you did not spend any cash for its upkeep apart from changing the filter just once.

Now that you can feel that there are some problems, it is best to call in the experts. Your best option would be to get in touch with the same shop from where you had purchased this air conditioner and get it repaired via them. Chances are that you might get a special discount. If you have gone in for an extended warrantee and your air conditioning unit is still under warrantee, you need not pay any money to get it repaired. But, if the warrantee period of the air conditioner is over, you might have to pay the costs for getting the same repaired.

As mentioned above, your best option is to get it repaired from the same shop from where you had initially purchased it, but what if you have shifted to some other town. In such circumstances, your best option is to search the yellow pages or search the internet for air conditioner repair shops that are located close to your residence. It is wise to take quotes from a few different organizations and pass on the air conditioner to the one who quotes the cheapest cost for repairing your air conditioner.

There are some other options open for you too. From time to time you will see special offers on the TV and in local papers and magazines. There are special exchange offers by many air conditioning organizations and these offers provide you a great option for obtaining a brand new air conditioner for a relatively low price. These advertisers will take back your old air conditioner, assess its condition and give you a new one in exchange for a discounted price. You shall also get a warrantee of approximately one year with the new air conditioner too.

Wall mounted air conditioners are known to be the best option for cooling a home. However, most people feel that they may not be required when there are many options available on the market such as central air and window units.

This notion exists because most people are unaware of the immense benefits a wall mounted air conditioner comes with. The best part is that these units come in various types.

One of the most common wall mounted air conditioners types is quite similar to a window unit. The only difference is that this air conditioner is mounted on the wall. The main benefit with this type of air cooler is that you do not require to compromise on your window views.

Wall mounted air conditioners are very convenient. The major benefit of using these units is that you do not require removing these and storing it at a different place during the winter.

When installing one where an air-conditioning unit already exists, you need to opt for a space where no pipes exist or electric lines do not run through the walls, the walls are constructed of store, brick or concrete, you will need to cut a hole.

Once the hole is cut, you need to insert a sleeve to let it bear the whole weight of the wall mounted air conditioner. The right way to get an apt sized sleeve is to purchase it from the same company that manufactured the unit.

Another variety of wall mounted air conditioners is known as a ductless system or mini-split system.

These air conditioners utilized a compressor unit mounted on the exterior of the house. The compressor is attached to a fan units mounted on the house. These devices require a very small hole through the wall.

There are other wall mounted units available on the market that include large units to be used in industrial settings as well as packaged terminal air conditioners.

Packaged terminal air conditioners, popularly known as PTACs are commonly used in motels. These work towards combining heat and air conditioning to a single unit that is placed along a wall.

Here are some of the advantages you can enjoy via utilizing a wall mounted air conditioner:

Inverter technology: These are very economical and run silently. These units can easily handle extremes of temperature and operate smoothly and in a stable manner.

Clean air: Almost all wall mounted air conditioners tend to provide clean air to rooms. The filter inside these units absorbs dust, microorganisms and mold spores via using static electricity.

Inverter control: The inverter feature of these air conditioners tend to facilitate the out door unit to change its speed and output in order to match the exact capacity required.

Quit operation: Silent operation of these air conditions make them quite desirable.

Remote controller: With a wireless remote controller, you can enjoy control of the temperature at your fingertips.

Nobody delivers better quality, better service or a broader variety of home comfort products. With units ranging from 5,000 BTUH to 28,500 BTUH they provide quiet, efficient and reliable air conditioners for years of trouble-free service. Most included a remote thermostat, clean air filtration and low voltage start-up to add to consumer comfort, convenience and safety. And with their ENERGY STAR qualification for efficiency, they can provide comfort and savings for any room in your home. You expect all this from Frigidaire… and they deliver. How to Choose a Room Air Conditioner Compared to large capacity central units, room air conditioners have several advantages. The initial cost of a room air conditioning unit is significantly lower than the cost of central air. Because room air conditioners are designed for cooling small spaces, operating costs are reduced. And, room air conditioners can provide personalized temperature and humidity controls that central systems cannot. Calculating Cooling Capacity Cooling capacity is the critical factor in properly selecting a room air conditioner. Cooling capacity is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs) and typical models will range in capacity from 5,000 BTUs to 28,500 BTUs. Choosing an undersized unit will overwork the unit and it will not cool properly. Choosing an oversized unit will cost more to buy and operate and it will not dehumidify properly. We can help you to calculate capacity. Be prepared to provide specific information on: Room Dimensions A simple floor plan to show the location of doors and north-facing windows The number of people it will serve Sources of heat such as lamps, TV and appliances An explanation of what’s above the intended room Your insulation provisions Cooling Capacity by Room Size Measure the length and width of the area to be cooled. Multiply the length by the width to determine square footage or square meters. Locate the room size in the chart

Home theaters are becoming more and more popular in peoples houses. A home theater offers great family time and a cheap night in. So what sort of air conditioner should you put in your home theater? Read on to explore some essential tips about air conditioning your home theater.

Firstly and most importantly, if you have a projector you need to make sure the air from the air conditioner does not blow directly onto your movie screen. If any air blows directly on your screen, it will cause the scree to move around making the movie unwatchable. To stop this from happening, place the grille (or ductless wall split unit) so it blows across the room. Alternatively, set the airflow to blow down and away from the screen as much as possible. Some ductless units allow you to programme a fixed blowing direction which can help you out.

Secondly, theater rooms generate more warmth than other rooms. Theaters usually have up to 5 or 6 people in them at one time. The equipment located in theaters also emit a great deal of heat. Projectors, dvd players, speakers and game consoles all run quite hot and this will increase the heat load of your theater room. To counteract these problems, ensure the air conditioning unit is large enough to effectively cool the room. Consider upsizing to the next size ductless unit or adding another ducted grille to the room to increase the airflow.

Finally, theaters are often colored dark to stop reflections. If you have a ducted air conditioning unit, you can get grilles and vents powder coated. This powder coating can transform the usual white look grille into a darker color which will blend in and match your home theater. If you are installing a wall split (ductless) air conditioning unit, consider upgrading to a unit with a modern and stylish finish.

These tips will help keep your theater feeling cool and looking great.

Be prepared to provide specific information on: Room Dimensions A simple floor plan to show the location of doors and north-facing windows The number of people it will serve Sources of heat such as lamps, TV and appliances An explanation of what’s above the intend

Ok, so it is now late winter and since the end of last cooling season, you have said “There is no way that we can make it through the next spring and summer with our current Air Conditioner or Heat Pump”. Either because it has come to the end of it’s useful life, or because you are sick and tired of spending $400 a month to cool the house and you want to increase your homes efficiency and tighten your budget.

Whatever the reason, the one thing that is certain, by waiting you increase your odds of having to make that fateful call to the HVAC contractor in the middle of the night or on Sunday to “Fix” or “Replace” the unit that you promised yourself you would take care of before the next cooling season.

The opportunity has been under your nose the whole time. You are now faced with the decision to repair your system for $800 (and that could be to replace a $100 part. They do that to get you to make the decision to replace) or you are being told that for $3,500 you can have a new AC installed in the next 24 hours. But, If you don’t let them do it you will be warned that “everyone is busy” and it may be weeks before anyone can get to you. Grrrrrr!… that makes me mad.

Your alternative is to do a little research, find a company that offers name brand quality equipment, is personal enough to help you with your choices and buy the cooling equipment yourself, then, with the huge money you have saved, spend some time finding a good honest local HVAC pro who will be happy to install your new furnace on a “Time & Material” basis.

By doing this, you can save as much as 50% and have exactly what you will get if you are pushed into the corner to make the decision under duress. The Contractors will tell you that if you buy your own equipment, you are on your own. That is pure BUNK! Well, it may be true if you call that contractor.

Here is an example: When you bought your home and moved in, the Heating and Air equipment was there before you. When you have needed assistance and called the local HVAC pro, he has come out and repaired. He probably didn’t sell that system, so where is the “On Your Own” in that?

Look, in today’s stressed out, beat up financial markets, without a doubt, the very best investment that you have access to, is nowhere near Wall Street. It is on “Your Street” and is probably sitting right outside your home. It’s your new Air Conditioner or Heat Pump. Don’t get backed into the corner. It is your money and you should be the one to decide how it is best spent.

Plus it’s made in China. After the summer I am going to sell in search of a quieter unit. The unit is in my bedroom and when I watch TV I have to increase the volume considerably to override the noise of the unit. We had a wind driven rain storm a few days ago and the rain actually came thru the unit into the bedroom. I was mopping up water for a while. This unit is not worth the money. I am searching for a unit that is manufactured in the United States (if there are any). I was told that Friedrich was made stateside. So I’ll check them out.
Customer Review: Dr.G.Ma
this was a good air unit, only on real humid days it leaves something to be desired. I am giving it to a family member and getting a larger unit for next year.

Have you heard of ductless air conditioning? Not a lot of people of have heard of it. It is an air conditioning unit that does not have any ductwork. These devices are quiet compared to other units and they are very efficient. Another name for these units is the mini-split system.

Ductless air conditioning units have been around for quite awhile. Indoor units mount on an outside interior wall. A small hole is made in the wall to allow the refrigerant piping, condensation drain and wiring access. The outside unit is compact and can be mounted anywhere on the outside wall as long as it within around fifty feet for the smaller units and around one hundred and fifty feet for the larger units. The length depends on the specific make and model of the unit.

One of the best features of these units is there ability to remove the moisture from the room. One feature that seems to impress owners of ductless air conditioning units is that the unit is permanently mounted inside. This means you know longer have to install it and remove it from a window, which can be quite awkward at times.

The design of these units is quite sleek and attractive. They blend in well in most rooms. They are not bulky and ugly like most window installed units. Ductless air conditioning units are similar to central air systems in that the compressor is outside the house. This eliminates much of the noise from the home or office.

These devices also feature a variable quiet blower and a thermostatic control as well. A wireless remote LCD hand control allows for easy operation. These units are also quite energy efficient. They usually operate with a SEER rating of 10 to 11.

In conclusion, ductless air conditioning units are not for everyone. Check with your local air conditioner dealer and find out what the installation costs are. These may vary depending on the size of the unit and the brand of the unit as well.

Multiply t…
Customer Review: Very Noisy
This would be a five star unit if it wasn’t so noisy even on the lowest fan speed.
Customer Review: Incredibly loud
Like others have said, this unit is unbelieveably loud, negating other good features it has (ability to cool quickly, not too hard to install, etc). I returned it and purchased a Kenmore, and they are night and day.

Dust , pollen , pet dander , mold spores , and dust mite feces are common allergens that trigger allergies in sensitive people. selecting a suitable replacement air filter for your furnace or air conditioner can help deal with these problematic allergens. In this article we take a look at some of the common filters available to home owners.

Fiberglass air filters are not only the least expensive replacement air filters sold, they are also the least effective in removing allergens from the air. Fiberglass air filters are designed only to capture the largest of dust particles but they do nothing to remove smaller particles like many of the common household allergens. These types of air filters also have very low MERV ratings and in many cases have no MERV rating at all.

Pleated air filters are a modified kind of panel filter that utilizes pleats or folds in the filter material to increase its surface area. This design change makes it more efficient at trapping dust particles because a more efficient filtering material can be used. Pleated filters are an upgrade from disposable fibreglass furnace filters. Most pleated furnace filters will last up to 90 days.

Electrostatic air filters are efficient and relatively inexpensive. Electrostatic furnace filters are permanent rather than disposable, meaning that you save money because you don’t have to replace your filters as often. Electrostatic air filters remove a high percentage of air pollutants.

Electronic filters are permanent, washable filters which rely on electricity to operate. The main advantage is that these filters are permanent. Some brands claim to remove up to 97 percent of particle from the air.

HEPA air filters are the most efficient replacement air filter and can remove over 99% of the total indoors pollutants. HEPA filters are commonly used in hospitals and anywhere else that requires the cleanest air possible.

Indoor air quality is important to monitor. Using quality replacement air filters will safely and effectively improve the quality of your air. Indoor air can be more than five times more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air is continually recycled through the HVAC system as long as the system is on.

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and is a measure of how effective the filter is in stopping dust and contaminants. Air filters range from 1 to about 16. MERV is actually an industry standard rating, so it’s a pretty good way to gauge a filters value.

Airborne particles are measured in microns. A micron is one 25,000th of an inch and a human hair is about 150 microns. The smallest particles that we can see are about 10 microns. Airborne allergens can be the cause of asthma and other respiratory illnesses and that’s why it’s so important to use replacement air filters that are the most effective at trapping dust and other household allergens.

Assembly level/degree of difficulty: No Assembly Required.
Customer Review: Disorganized process
The unit was delivered with damage. What can one say, things like that happen. Amazon said they would send a new one and instructions for returning the old one (so far so good). A week later I called and there seemed to be no record of the conversation, so we had it again. Got a new one, it works fine, but 2 different sets of instructions were sent for returning the broken one. After much communication breakdown, we finally delivered the defective unit to a UPS store with Amazon instructions. Now we’re getting emails saying that we will be charged for that since it didn’t get returned. What a mess.

Air conditioners can be a blessed relief during a sweltering summer; however, this relief may come at a substantial increase in utility bills. Therefore, it is important that air conditioners be properly maintained and kept in good working order.

One of the reasons that an air conditioning unit does not work properly is most often the simplest one: the filters are dirty. They should be cleaned and/or changed on a regular basis. Most companies recommend changing replaceable filters every three months. Permanently installed filters can be vacuumed or dusted as needed.

Doors to rooms that are not often used can remain closed, so that the remaining rooms will receive more cooled air. One may wish to close the vent off in the unused room, opening it only when necessary.

The best operating temperature for an air conditioning system is between 76 and 78 degrees F. Each degree lower costs approximately 15% more.

The compressor should not be placed to where it will be in or exposed to direct sunlight. The space around the unit should be kept clear for maximum performance.

Close blinds and curtains in the summer to help keep the house cooler. The air conditioner will not have to work so hard.

Vent openings (or louvers) should be pointed up or horizontally. This will allow the air conditioner to cool more efficiently.

The system should be used only when needed. If windows can be opened at night, that may be a good option, rather than using the air conditioner to cool the house while everyone is sleeping.

The fans on the air conditioning unit should be operated at maximum speed. In this way, more cooled air will be circulated.

Air conditioning should receive regularly scheduled maintenance service. This will prevent any problems that may arise when the unit is used for the first time after the winter season.

Especially if you live in a place where weather sees a few extremes, it is wise to have both heating and air conditioning units. How can you get the best use out of both and keep them running effectively?

Most homeowners don’t even realize how their heating and air conditioning units work. When their system breaks, it’s a quick phone call to customer service to get a repair in. But there are a few things you can do yourself to make sure these important units in your home run properly and efficiently.

First of all, remember to change the air filter regularly. Cleaning the filter on your unit will help insure that dust is kept to a minimum thereby reducing allergens in the home and preventing dust build up.

Consider getting a program controlled thermostat. This is great for keeping an even and comfortable temperature in the home. It can be set so the air conditioning won’t kick on while you’re not at home and in turn helping keep heating/cooling costs down.

A few home air conditioner repairs can be done instead of calling in the professionals. If you find your air conditioner isn’t cooling, it is possible it just needs to be cleaned. To do this you will need to turn off the power to your A/C. You probably have instructions in your owner’s manual and it is best to follow those directions. Otherwise, clean around the unit itself, take off the grille taking care to not pull any wires loose and from inside the unit and hose down the fins. Often times, this is all it takes to get the unit back up and working.

Remember to clean out the air ducts on a regular basis, keep your thermostat set to a comfortable level and have maintenance performed as often as the manufacturer recommends.

White Finish
Customer Review: Easy to install
This air conditioning unit was easy to install. I have a small bedroom window and it fit right inside. The electronic features are easy to use, the remote control is simple to use. Pretty good air conditioner.
Customer Review: works great
This unit works great. I bought it for my son’s room at his fraternity house and it cools his room really well. The energy saver feature is nice as it shuts the unit down when it gets cool enough so they don’t spend a fortune on electricity. His room is 12 x 15 and it took about an hour to take the room from 90 when we got there to a pleasant 76 degrees, and that was with the door being opened and closed on move-in day.

Wood-burning fireplaces are becoming more popular. There’s something romantic and relaxing about sitting near a fireplace, hearing the crackle of the wood, and gazing at the flickering flames. And with soaring fossil fuel prices, many people believe that it’s less expensive to burn wood for heat during the winter. But research shows that central heating is typically the most efficient and cheapest way to heat. Many people also think that burning wood is better for the environment since wood is a renewable resource; however, according the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), wood burning is not environmentally friendly. In fact, wood results in high levels of air pollution that can harm the environment and your health.

“The largest single source of outdoor fine particles entering into our homes in many American cities is our neighbor’s fireplace or wood stove,” says Dr. Wayne Ott of Stanford University.

Wood smoke contains many of the same chemicals as cigarette smoke, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, hazardous metals, and known carcinogens such as formaldehyde, dioxin, benzene, and toluene. Inhaling wood smoke appears to be even more dangerous than inhaling tobacco smoke. An EPA study concluded that breathing wood smoke particles during high pollution days is equivalent to smoking 4 to 16 cigarettes. Medical studies have linked air pollution with lung cancer, heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, congenital heart defects, asthma, and even brain damage. People most at-risk for damage from air pollution include asthma sufferers, diabetics, those with congenital hearth failure, and children.

Dr. Ramierez-Venegas of the UK explains, “Biomass [wood] smoke is composed of a relatively equal mixture of coarse and ultra-fine particles and can penetrate deeply into the lung, producing a variety of morphologic and biochemical changes.”

“Mammalian lungs don’t have defenses against small particles,” points out Joel Schwartz of the EPA. “Particulate pollution is the most important contaminant in our air… We know that when particle levels go up, people die.”

Of course, it’s best to avoid burning wood (for the benefit of your family, your neighbors, and the environment), but if you must, you can take steps to limit your exposure to the air pollution. Make sure your fireplace is working properly with a sufficient draft. Tightly sealed doors in front of the fireplace block out much pollution. Don’t burn trash or treated wood, and make sure your wood has been split and dried for at least six months. Use small pieces of wood. Small, hot fires give off less pollution than smoldering fires.

Many air purifiers are specifically designed to handle the air pollution from smoke. Blueair air purifiers are available with SmokeStop Filters. The AllerAir 5000 DS air purifier is designed to absorb smoke, tar, fine ash, and other airborne particulates, and the IQAir Multigas air purifier removes a wide spectrum of gases and particulates, including smoke. If you want to get rid of the odor from smoke, try the Gonzo Smoke Odor Eliminator.
